SUPPORT INDEPENDENT FOOD
TESTING IN INDIA

Every time you buy food or supplements, you trust that labels are accurate and that the product is safe and compliant. At Bharat Food Check, we work to verify that trust with independent, transparent testing and clear explanations, so consumers can make informed decisions.

This work is not free, and to remain independent β€” with no undue influence from brands β€” we rely on multiple sources of funding.

To support this work, funding comes from a combination of:

🀝 PUBLIC DONATIONS

Supporters from across India contribute what they can β€”
even as little as β‚Ή1 β€” to help cover the costs of testing, reporting, and education.
Every contribution matters and enables us to keep this initiative running.

πŸ’° YOUTUBE REVENUE

Revenue from YouTube ads and platform monetization helps cover ongoing operational costs, research, and content production. This allows us to publish free, accessible content for everyone.

πŸ›  BRAND TESTING FEES

Brands that want their products tested can choose to pay a testing fee. These fees cover the costs of purchasing samples and lab analysis. Such payments are disclosed transparently.

Brand-paid testing may lead to:

  • Lab Tested Badge – indicating independent testing on a market-bought sample
  • Certified Badge – indicating a certification process under an agreement to test batches before market release (see details below)

Payment of a testing fee:

  • Does not guarantee any particular result or badge
  • Does not influence the testing process, results, or reporting

πŸ§ͺ LAB TESTED BADGE

  • The product was purchased in the open market
  • A NABL-accredited lab carried out testing
  • Results are transparently reported

A brand may request lab testing by paying a standard testing fee, but the badge is only earned through actual independent testing.

πŸ… CERTIFIED BADGE

Certifying a product requires a formal agreement with the brand to test batches under controlled conditions before they are made available in the market.
This ensures:

  • Ongoing quality control
  • Greater confidence in consistency across batches

Certification is only granted when all criteria are met and does not rely on donation size or payment amount.

Bharat Food Check is not backed by a large institution or corporate sponsor.

A significant part of the work is self-funded by the founders, using income from their full-time corporate careers.

Being fortunate enough to support this work ourselves allows us to remain independent β€” but it also comes with practical limits.

Independent testing is expensive, and self-funding alone can support only a limited number of tests.

Public support helps us:

  • Expand the number of products we can test
  • Cover more categories and brands
  • Increase the frequency of testing
  • Build a larger archive of transparent results

Together, collective support allows Bharat Food Check to do far more than any individual effort can achieve alone.

Independent testing and education involve real costs:

  • Purchasing products from real marketplace shelves
  • Laboratory analysis in NABL-accredited facilities
  • Research, reporting, and quality control
  • Content production and distribution

Public support ensures:

  • Tests are conducted without bias
  • Results are published without influence
  • Educational content remains free and accessible

Whether you contribute β‚Ή1 or more, your support:
βœ” Helps verify food quality across categories
βœ” Funds transparent reporting
βœ” Strengthens independent consumer advocacy
βœ” Supports facts over marketing

There are no supporter levels or premium privileges.
All contributions go toward sustaining independent, credible food testing for everyone.

Badges represent independent testing and evaluation. Support does not purchase influence or outcomes. All badges are issued only after the appropriate testing and review process.
